Chrysotile asbestos: fact sheet – updated 2024

The Australian Government, Asbestos and Silica Safety and Eradication Agency developed this fact sheet in 2019 to dispel some of the misinformation that the asbestos mining and production countries were spreading about the supposed ‘safe use’ of chrysotile.

This fact sheet contains information on the dangers of chrysotile (white) asbestos, the movement for a global ban and common questions relating to chrysotile asbestos.

This fact sheet has also been translated into Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Indonesian, Khmer, Lao, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese languages.
