The Global Programme for the Elimination of Silicosis (GPES) was established in 1995 by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and World Health Organisation (WHO), with an aim to eliminate silicosis by 2030.
The joint GPES encourages countries to establish National Programmes for the Elimination of Silicosis (NPES) to engage government, national employers’ and workers’ organizations, as well as other partners concerned in its active implementation.
