This chapter explores the pathways through which workers and communities can be exposed to silica dust and other hazardous airborne contaminants. It examines both occupational and non-occupational exposures, highlighting the industries, activities and environments where harmful dust exposure can occur and the associated risks of developing occupational lung disease.
