Raising funds and awareness for mesothelioma and dust-disease research.

In October 2026, six elite runners will take on the Trail to Triumph Ultra Marathon – a gruelling 250km journey through the rugged Queensland terrain from Moranbah to Mackay.

With long distances, steep climbs, challenging terrain and little sleep, the race is deliberately brutal. It’s a small reflection of the physical and emotional challenges faced every day by people living with mesothelioma and other dust-related diseases.

Your support can help turn this incredible challenge into something that makes a lasting difference.

Every dollar donated will directly support ADDRI’s research to improve the early detection, screening and treatment of mesothelioma – helping us work towards better outcomes for people living with this devastating disease.

Tony’s legacy

Trail to Triumph was established in honour of Tony Britton, who lost his battle with mesothelioma in 2014.

What began as a tribute has become an annual endurance challenge raising awareness and vital funds for people affected by dust-related lung diseases. Since 2014, participants and supporters have helped raise more than $450,000 for research and support initiatives.

Your support in 2026 will ensure that Tony’s legacy will continue to make a difference for others living with mesothelioma, while supporting the families and loved ones who walk alongside them.

Where your donation goes

Each year, over 4,000 Australians die from asbestos-related disease – more than three times the national road toll.  And over 600 people odie annually from the aggressive asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma. . At the same time, one in 7 workers , or approximately 2.04 million workers in Australia have likely been exposed to dangerous silica dust.   These diseases are often preventable, yet their impact can be life-changing for the people diagnosed and deeply distressing for their families.  For someone diagnosed with mesothelioma, treatment options are still limited and difficult decisions need to be made.  A younger worker with Silicosis may be coming to terms with a life-changing diagnosis after simply doing their job. And behind every diagnosis is a person, a family, and a need for answers, support and hope.

Your generosity helps us continue our commitment to support all those affected through research, education, prevention and compassionate support. It enables our researchers to pursue earlier and less invasive diagnosis, explore new treatment approaches and uncover insights that can improve patient outcomes and fast track them into treatment. It also helps ensure patients and families have access to trusted information and specialist support as they navigate complex health journeys.
