Asbestos & Bushfires

Australia has a legacy of being one of the highest consumers of asbestos-containing materials in the world and during the current bushfire crisis it is vital that those responding to the bushfires and those living and working in bushfire affected regions are aware that asbestos may cause an additional risk to their health.

During bushfires, air quality is diminished due to airborne ash and smoke which can also contain asbestos fibres and suitable precautions should be taken. For more information on the danger of dealing with asbestos in burnt out buildings and how to protect yourself, visit these websites to be better informed: https://asbestosawareness.com.au/bushfires/
