ADDRI is very excited to announce our Silicosis Support Hub has been nominated for the 2026 Patient Choice Awards, Outstanding Patient Campaign category.
Voting for the Patient’s Choice Awards 2026 is now open, running from 6 to 12 July 2026.
The Silicosis Support Hub deserves recognition for transforming the way people affected by silicosis find information, support and hope at one of the most difficult points in their lives.
Silicosis is a life-changing and often devastating occupational lung disease, with hundreds of thousands of Australians exposed to dangerous silica dust and modelling predicting more than 103,000 future cases. For workers and families facing diagnosis, the pathway to screening, treatment, compensation, legal advice and emotional support can be confusing and fragmented.
Launched in March 2025, the Hub brings clear, evidence-informed and compassionate guidance into one accessible national platform. It is built around patients’ real needs, using plain language, translatable content and practical tools to help people understand their risk, take action and feel less alone. Its Risk Assessment Tool provides high-risk workers with a GP-ready report, supporting earlier engagement with care and filling an important public health gap.
In just 15 months, the Hub has achieved more than 18,000 sessions, over 10,000 video views, over 1.2 million search impressions, a 60% engagement rate and more than 3,000 direct actions. It has been adopted and referenced by government agencies, health bodies, unions, legal firms and community organisations, showing strong leadership and collaboration across the healthcare system.
Recognised with two 2025 Australian Good Design Awards for Social Impact and Digital Design – from over 1,000 entries – the Silicosis Support Hub is a powerful example of patient-centred innovation improving access, dignity and outcomes for Australians impacted by silicosis.
