2025–2029
The International e-Toolkits for the elimination of asbestos and dust-related diseases provide easy, accessible, online resources for everyone to use in preventing exposure to asbestos, silica and other dusts – and what can be done to reduce the burden of dust diseases.
These e-Toolkits will be an important tool in achieving the goal of eliminating asbestos and other dust-related diseases, which are entirely preventable.
The International e-Toolkits are aimed at anyone with an interest in addressing the problem of asbestos and dust-related diseases, locally in their own country, or globally.
The resources and information in these e-Toolkits are designed to be as user friendly as possible for everyone to use, not just those who work in the asbestos and dust-related disease sector.
ADDRI is committed to continuous improvement so this e-Toolkit will be a living resource, adding new content and links as they come to light. We welcome input from the global community to improve this resource for all to use. Please email us here with your suggestions.

In January 2021, ADDRI was first designated by the World Health Organization as a Collaborating Centre for the Elimination of Asbestos Related Diseases. In January 2025, ADDRI was redesignated in this role, reflecting the institute’s broader focus on all dust-related diseases.
The main role of the WHO collaborating centres is to provide strategic support to the WHO to meet two main needs: implementing WHO’s mandated work and programme objectives; and developing and strengthening institutional capacity in countries and regions.
ADDRI is the only stand-alone WHO CC dedicated specifically to the elimination of asbestos and dust-related diseases, positioning the institute as a global leader in this space.
On behalf of all contributors, the Australian Asbestos and Dust Diseases Research Institute (ADDRI) is delighted to publish the International e-Toolkit for the Elimination of Asbestos and Dust-Related Diseases 2025 -2029.
As the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for the Elimination of Asbestos and Dust-Related Diseases, ADDRI is well placed to develop this international e-Toolkit as an easy, user-friendly resource for everyone to use.

This goal is accepted worldwide because ADRDs affect the wellbeing and lives of so many people and not just those exposed in their workplace. Continue reading…
